About This Program

Being a great leader and a great communicator go hand-in-hand. As you step up on the career ladder and into leadership roles, improving self-expression while effectively motivating others are fundamental skills to aligning your teams towards your company's vision and goals. In addition, learning to communicate with influence and Intentionality will shape you as an influential leader and prepare you to respond effectively to challenges. Leadership Influence: Understand & Engage is part one of the Leadership Influence two-part program. For part two, see Leadership Influence: Master the Art of Leadership.

What This Program Covers

Your ability to communicate precisely, powerfully, and with influence will set the stage for success in your role as a leader. As one of the core assets of leadership, it's imperative that you build your communication capabilities to speak convincingly and with clarity to executives, employees, teams, and customers.

In this interactive workshop, you will learn the theory, strategies, and practical influence tactics. In addition, we will explore a variety of communication tools that will help you quickly build a connection with someone, identify their preferred communication patterns, and craft your message for the most significant impact.

We'll investigate the Communication Model that demonstrates how we filter and process sensory information and how everyone on the planet processes the same information in different ways. This model helps us understand how different people can interpret our message differently and how we can overcome that.

You will learn valuable tools that will help you better understand your audience and how you can adjust your message for different audiences. We will explore the importance of Active Listening and explore the truth behind why people find "someone is interesting because they are interested".

We will also introduce you to an effective questioning model that will help you explore deeper what someone is trying to tell you and reveal missing information.

The program will cycle between theory and practice to help you understand the concepts and put them into practice immediately with the other program participants.

What You'll Learn

  • Rapport & Sensory Acuity - Learn how to connect and build trust with almost anyone purposefully.
  • Empathy - Master the art of tactical empathy to help others feel that you understand them.
  • Active Listening - Develop your active listening skills and learn why master communicators listen more than they speak. When you talk, you will do so with greater understanding, authority, and influence.
  • Body Language - Understand the power and dynamics of non-verbal communication and learn how to communicate your messages on multiple levels for a more significant impact.
  • Communication Model - Understand how people process information and use that knowledge to fine-tune your influence.
  • Self-control - Learn how to manage your emotional responses and use self-control to your advantage.
  • Meta Model - Learn how to use effective directional questioning patterns to uncover missing information and hidden intent in a conversation. Meta Model questions help you dig deeper into what's behind your co-workers' and clients' thoughts and words. Allowing you—and them—to develop a clearer understanding of all perspectives.
