Most pitches fail because they lead with the solution. This board forces you to build the narrative arc first: start with the problem (why change is needed), move to what you're proposing, then land on why it matters. The visual curve reminds you where to spend your time. About 25% on the problem, 35% on the solution, 40% on the benefit. That last number surprises people, but it's where decisions actually get made.

When to use it: Any time you're building a pitch from scratch or reworking one that didn't land. It's especially useful when you catch yourself jumping straight into "here's what I want to do" without setting up why anyone should care. Works for formal board presentations, internal proposals, budget requests, or pitching a new initiative to your leadership team.

How to get the most out of it: Start with the Problem column, not the Solution. Write down what's actually at stake for the people in the room, not what's at stake for you. If you can't articulate the problem in terms your audience cares about, your solution won't matter. Then work left to right. The Benefit column should take the most space on purpose. That's where you connect your idea to their priorities, quantify the impact, and give them a reason to say yes. Don't treat the three sections as equal. The weighting at the bottom is there for a reason.
